…whatsoever ye ask the Father in my name, he will give it you (John 16:23, King James Version)
The above verse of scripture gives us direction on the right way to pray; praying In The Name of Jesus.
Throughout the scriptures, there is no place where we are told to pray to the Father through the name of Jesus. What the Bible teaches is for us to pray ‘in the name of Jesus’.
At this point you may ask, is there is a wrong way to pray? The answer is Yes! When you pray to Jesus in the name of Jesus, or through the name of Jesus, that’s contrary to God’s word; you don’t pray to Jesus in the name of Jesus, neither do you pray to the Father through the name of Jesus. You pray to the Father “in the name of Jesus”.
To pray through Jesus is to make Him a medium to the Father, and that’s wrong. But to pray in the name of Jesus means you are standing in His place. You have been given the legal right to use His name.
You may fellowship with Jesus, and tell Him how much you adore Him, but you don’t pray to Jesus. So, if you have a request to make of the Father and you want that request granted, do it in the name of Jesus, not to Jesus or through Jesus.
So, you do not pray through Jesus, you pray to God the Father in the name of Jesus. That’s the right way to pray.
